A female student from Jharkhand’s Palamu district has accused a constable working in the wireless office of Simdega district of Jharkhand of having sexual relations with her under the pretext of marriage. The woman has filed a case against the constable in the Mahila Thana (Women’s Police Station) in Ranchi. The victim has appealed to senior police officers for justice.
According to the FIR filed at the Mahila Thana in Ranchi, the woman stated that Constable Ramesh Bharti, a resident of Bhavnathpur police station area of Garhwa district, currently working in the wireless office in Simdega district, became friends with her on the social media platform Instagram in 2023. The friendship gradually grew and turned into a romantic relationship.
In the meantime, constable Ramesh Bharti took her to his flat in the Pundag OP area of Ranchi, promising marriage, and had physical relations with her there. This continued. Later, when the woman asked the constable to marry her, he refused. Instead, he started assaulting her for putting pressure on him to marry.
To get rid of the woman, the constable blocked her mobile number. The victim went to Simdega in June to meet the accused, hoping for marriage. During that time too, the constable assaulted her at the bus stand complex. Due to the victim’s father’s illness, she could not file a complaint at that time. Now, she has filed a written complaint of sexual exploitation by the accused constable, promising marriage, in the Mahila Thana of Ranchi and has appealed for justice.
The police department is in turmoil after the written complaint related to sexual exploitation. A police team is planning to take the accused constable into custody soon based on the complaint filed by the woman and investigate the whole matter. The police will question the accused constable to get accurate information about the matter.
