WhatsApp has introduced a new ‘Remind Me’ feature for Android beta users designed to help them remember and respond to crucial messages. This feature addresses the common issue of overlooking important information amidst busy schedules. The ‘Remind Me’ feature allows users to set reminders for any message, including text, images, videos, GIFs, audio, and documents. To use it, long-press a message and tap the bell icon that appears. Users can then choose from preset reminder times like 2 hours, 8 hours, or 24 hours, or customize the time and date. A notification will then appear at the designated time, displaying the message content, chat name, and media preview. Reminders can be easily removed by long-pressing the message and deleting the reminder via the bell icon. This feature differs from starred messages or pinned chats by providing direct notifications, ensuring users don’t miss crucial documents, replies, or other reminders. In addition to this, WhatsApp is also testing a ‘Quick Recap’ feature which summarizes unread chats, assisting users in quickly identifying vital information within numerous unread messages.
