WhatsApp is constantly innovating to enhance user chat experiences. Meta is introducing a new feature called the Wave Emoji, designed to simplify the initiation of new chats. This feature will appear in your chats, and here’s how it works.
The Wave Emoji is a hand-waving emoji that users can send as a greeting, similar to ‘Hello’ or ‘Hi’. This feature is particularly beneficial for those hesitant to start chats with new contacts. WABetaInfo shared a post on X showcasing the emoji in WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.21.24. The emoji is visible at the bottom of chats with contacts you haven’t messaged before, and it’s intended for one-on-one chats only.
WhatsApp is also extending this feature to voice chats with a ‘Wave All’ option. This option sends a notification to all group members, inviting them to join the voice chat, providing a streamlined way to gather everyone for meetings or discussions.
Currently, the Wave Emoji feature is available for WhatsApp beta users. It is expected to be rolled out to all users after beta testing.
