A 6.3 magnitude earthquake shook the Bay of Bengal early Tuesday, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The quake, which occurred at a shallow depth of 10 km, was located at 93.37°E longitude and 6.82°N latitude. Authorities are assessing potential impacts. Shortly after, a 6.5 magnitude earthquake hit the Nicobar Islands around 12:12 am IST, at a depth of 10 kilometers. Its epicenter was approximately 259 km west-northwest of Sabang, Indonesia. Despite the strength of the quakes, neither triggered a tsunami alert, according to the United States Geological Survey and the Tsunami Warning System. Social media users shared reactions, with some noting the timing of the Nicobar Islands quake and expressing concerns for safety.
