During a Rajya Sabha debate regarding Operation Sindoor, Union External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar criticized the Opposition’s stance on China. He took aim at what he called “China Gurus,” particularly singling out Jairam Ramesh, accusing him of excessive fondness for China. Jaishankar implied that the Opposition’s understanding of China was shallow, suggesting they gained their knowledge from the Olympics. He underscored that Pakistan and China’s close ties are well-known and actively addressed by the government. He questioned the Opposition’s assertion that these ties developed recently, implying they were unaware of the historical context.
Jaishankar also addressed the communication with the US during Operation Sindoor, revealing that US Vice President Vance had warned the Indian Prime Minister about a potential Pakistani attack. The Prime Minister responded firmly, and India took actions that neutralized Pakistani air defenses. Jaishankar stated that there were no requests from any world leaders for India to cease operations, and no trade-related discussions took place. He also clarified that there were no direct communications between the Indian Prime Minister and President Trump.
