An individual managed to save ₹36,500 on an Apple MacBook Pro by purchasing it in Vietnam. This strategy highlights a significant price difference between the Indian and Vietnamese markets for Apple products. The individual undertook a trip to Hanoi to capitalize on this opportunity, avoiding import duties, Goods and Services Tax (GST), and the premium pricing associated with Apple products in India. The journey involved booking a cost-effective round-trip flight and visiting over 15 stores to secure the desired MacBook deal. The savvy shopper also provided advice on maximizing savings through Value Added Tax (VAT) refund documentation. The MacBook Pro with 24GB RAM cost ₹1,85,000 in India, but after the VAT refund, the same model was acquired in Vietnam for ₹1,48,500. This resulted in a saving of ₹36,500 compared to the Indian market price. The total expenditure, including the MacBook purchase and the 11-day trip, amounted to ₹1,97,000, effectively costing the vacation approximately ₹48,000.
