The couple had gone to court for a divorce hearing, where a dispute erupted between them. Hundreds of people witnessed the altercation. The husband had filed for divorce in the Sitamarhi court, seeking to separate from his wife.
The reason for the husband’s desire for separation is that the woman has married her lover, leaving her husband. Both were present at the Sitamarhi court for the hearing. Despite the husband’s repeated attempts to reason with her, the wife remained unyielding, consumed by her love for her partner. The woman hurled insults at her husband. The husband claimed that she had married a Muslim man, a fact he vocally shared with everyone present.
During the court proceedings, the husband mentioned that his three-year-old child was being kept by his in-laws, and he wanted his child back. His wife had abandoned him to marry a man of a different religion. While everyone in the court was criticizing the wife, she showed no sign of remorse. Instead, she angrily berated her husband. When the husband tried to hold her hand, she became even angrier.
In her fury, the woman began calling out others present, accusing them of being shameless. She said that her husband was holding her hand, and everyone was watching. The husband then released her hand, and she continued to hurl insults at him, walking away. She repeatedly asked her husband why he was creating a scene in the court since a case was ongoing. The husband also spoke to the media.
The husband stated that he is a resident of Padumker village in East Champaran. The wife’s parents are also supporting her in this matter. He has a three-year-old child who is with his maternal grandparents. He wants to divorce his wife and keep his son with him. A panchayat (village council) had convened at his in-laws’ house. His in-laws reside in Nunoura village in the Mahindwara police station area. The panchayat had asked his father-in-law to return his son.
Since then, his father-in-law has taken their son and left the house. His wife has been living with her lover for a year, and they have a daughter together.
