Following the passing of Shibu Soren, a prominent leader from Jharkhand and the founder of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha party on August 4th, Minister Irfan Ansari has called for the Bharat Ratna to be awarded to ‘Dishom Guru’ Shibu Soren. Ansari, upon paying his respects, stated his request to the President, emphasizing Soren’s deserving nature, revolutionary spirit, and role as a voice for the impoverished. He urged the Indian government to promptly recognize Soren’s contributions. Soren had been unwell for an extended period, admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi from June 19th. Despite the continuous efforts of medical professionals, he died at the age of 81. Ansari expressed that the loss of Dishom Guru would be deeply felt in Jharkhand, lamenting the void his absence would create. He also mentioned the challenges faced by the family and their resolve to confront them, including his brother Hemant Soren, and other family members. The Minister has requested that the Bharat Ratna be bestowed upon Shibu Soren, recognizing his dedication to the downtrodden and his legacy as a grassroots activist.
