In Jodhpur, Rajasthan, a bride from Bihar orchestrated a shocking incident. After receiving money for the marriage, she locked her groom in a room two days after the wedding night. Attempting to escape, she fashioned a rope from her saree and jumped from the balcony, resulting in broken legs. This led to her apprehension by the police. At the hospital, she revealed the details of her entire gang involved in marriage fraud, preying on unsuspecting individuals.
The incident occurred within the Banar police station area. Bharat, the victim, filed a case detailing the fraudulent marriage. He accused 23-year-old Suman, the bride, and five others of serious offenses.
Bharat’s report stated that his marriage prospects were dim. Nandkishore Soni, an acquaintance of his father, proposed a match on June 27. The match was with a 23-year-old woman from Bihar. Two acquaintances, Sandeep Sharma and Ravi, brought two girls: Suman and Ruby Pandey. Bharat chose Suman and was informed he needed to pay 300,000 rupees for the marriage.
Bharat paid 170,000 rupees in cash and transferred 130,000 rupees online. The marriage took place at an Arya Samaj temple. Two days later, he discovered Suman’s true identity as a ‘looteri dulhan’ (bride who scams). After an argument, Suman locked him in the room. She made a saree rope and jumped from the balcony, breaking her legs. Ravi and Sandeep were waiting below. Bharat raised an alarm, and his family apprehended Suman, while Ravi and Sandeep fled.
Suman, now hospitalized, continued her deception. She repeatedly changed her father’s name. Further investigation revealed she was already married and provided false documents at the wedding. This exposed the gang. Suman Pandey is from Aurangabad, Bihar. Sandeep Sharma is from Kaushambi, UP. Ravi and Ruby Devi are from Dalmia Nagar, Rohtas, Bihar. Nand Kishore Soni and Jitendra Soni are from Jodhpur. The search for the other accused is ongoing.
