In Raipur, at the Police Parade Ground in Civil Lines, the Helping Hands Club Foundation organized a special Raksha Bandhan event, ‘Rakhi with Rakshak, Dori Prem Ka.’ The event saw participation from soldiers of the BSF, ITBP, Chhattisgarh Police, Central Forces, and Odisha. During the ceremony, women tied rakhis on the wrists of the soldiers, adorning their wrists and expressing their gratitude and love for them. The women present at the event emotionally expressed, “We can sleep peacefully only because you are awake. We are safe because of your duty.” Dr. Lal Umed, the organizer of the Helping Hands Club Foundation, noted that soldiers are away from their families due to their duty. He highlighted that everyone can celebrate festivals safely because the soldiers are deployed to protect the country. The soldiers inevitably miss their homes, and everyone understands this sentiment. He emphasized the need to pay attention to increasing problems such as cybercrime and substance abuse, stating that vigilance and caution are our greatest security. IPS Rajesh Kukreja mentioned that by tying rakhis to the soldiers, Helping Hands honored the entire police family of India. He stated that it is their responsibility to ensure the safety of every sister. He pledged to protect all the sisters, appreciating Helping Hands’ initiative, adding that it is special for those soldiers who do not have sisters, and this event fulfills their absence. Manoj Goyal, the patron of Helping Hands, said their aim is to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with their soldier brothers who are away from home for our safety. He added that they organized this event last year as well and are celebrating it with even greater grandeur this year. Their motto is, ‘Service to humanity is service to God.’ Babita Agarwal, the president of the women’s wing, said that the smile that comes on the faces of the soldiers when they tie rakhis gives them a lot of peace. They try to ensure that the soldiers do not miss their sisters and do not feel homesick. The event also discussed challenges like cybercrime and substance abuse. Dr. Lal Umed specifically urged the women to be vigilant and cautious in the real world. This event was not only a celebration of Raksha Bandhan but also conveyed a message of safety and awareness in society.
