Israel’s security cabinet has approved a plan to occupy Gaza City, following the extensive destruction inflicted on the region. The decision, made in response to the October 7th attack by Hamas, comes after 22 months of ongoing conflict. The Prime Minister’s Office announced the approval, emphasizing the objective of defeating Hamas. The war has resulted in the deaths of thousands of Palestinians, widespread devastation in Gaza, and the impending famine affecting nearly two million Palestinians. Prior to the cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Netanyahu stated Israel’s intention to regain control of the entire area and transfer it to friendly Arab forces that would govern the area.
