A shocking incident has come to light from the cremation ground near the new pond in Arang, sending shockwaves through the area. Nona Dhurandhar, a resident of Ward Number 12, recently passed away, and her last rites were performed at the cremation ground in Ward Number 6 according to Hindu customs. However, when the family went to collect the ashes this morning, they were nowhere to be found.
According to the family, only three earthen pots, burnt wicks, a piece of shirt, and a piece of wood used for removing bones were found at the cremation site. The absence of the ashes has left the family devastated, as the immersion of ashes is considered extremely important in Hinduism for the peace of the departed soul. The family is now searching for the missing ashes so they can be ritually immersed in a sacred river.
The Chief Municipal Officer and the Arang Police Station in-charge have been informed about the incident. The family has demanded that a watchman be appointed and CCTV cameras be installed at the cremation ground to prevent such incidents from happening again.
Local sources and the family believe that tantric activities often increase during the month of Sawan. There is a suspicion that a tantric or a person involved in superstition may have stolen the ashes. The police and administration are being urged to take appropriate action considering the seriousness of the matter.
