The number of Indian citizens who have died in Canada has been steadily increasing. Government data released to parliament reveals that over 1,000 Indian nationals have died in Canada over the past five years. While many of these deaths were attributed to natural causes such as old age or illness, the figures also include fatalities resulting from accidents, violence, suicide, and murder. The Ministry of External Affairs reported that 757 mortal remains and ashes of Indian citizens were successfully repatriated from Canada to India during this period. The government prioritizes the resolution of issues related to the transportation of mortal remains of Indian citizens and strives to ensure their successful return.
