Nissan is rapidly expanding its presence in the Indian market. With only one offering (Magnite) currently in its Indian product portfolio, Nissan plans to expand its lineup with two new SUVs. One of these will be a C-segment SUV based on the third-generation Renault Duster. The Japanese automaker has started testing its new mid-size SUV in India, and here’s what you can expect from this car. This new Nissan SUV will compete with models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, and the upcoming Tata Sierra and Maruti’s new mid-size SUV. The car could launch in mid-2026. The new Nissan SUV may feature a grille with a signature badge, a bumper with C-shaped elements, and a raised bonnet. This SUV also has plastic wheel arches, 5-spoke alloy wheels, a shark fin antenna, a spoiler, shaped taillights, and a flat tailgate. As of now, information about the interior is not available. However, it is expected that the cabin layout and features will be similar to the new Renault Duster. The new Nissan SUV is expected to offer several powertrain options, including petrol, CNG, and hybrid. The lower variants may have a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, while the high trims may get a 1.0-liter or 1.3-liter turbo petrol engine. According to media reports, the Renault Duster hybrid will arrive within 12 months of its ICE variant, which is expected to hit the roads in early 2026. Nissan’s hybrid powertrain C-segment SUV will come later. The automaker is also considering a CNG variant of the C-segment SUV. However, it may choose a third-party or retrofitted CNG solution like Nissan Kwid and Kiger.
