The Election Commission has instructed RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav to submit his “clearly fake” voter ID card by August 16th. The directive follows allegations regarding the authenticity of Yadav’s voter ID. The ECI emphasized that forging and using false government documents is a punishable offense. A new letter was issued to the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Patna (Sadar) and the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of the Digha Assembly constituency. The officer had previously written to the former Deputy Chief Minister, requesting he submit the voter ID card for inspection, which he claimed to possess despite it not being officially issued. The ERO stated that a review of voter lists over several years revealed that the Election Commission had never issued a voter ID card with the number cited by Yadav. The letter reiterated that creating and using fraudulent government documents is a crime and requested the surrender of the voter ID by the specified deadline.
