Bangladesh is preparing for its next general election following the removal of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from power. Chief Election Commissioner of Bangladesh, A.M.M. Nasir Uddin, announced on Saturday that the general elections in Bangladesh will be held in the first week of February 2026. He acknowledged that making the voting process free, fair, and transparent remains a major challenge for the Election Commission. He did not announce the exact date and schedule of the election, stating that it will be issued two months before the formal announcement.
