A shocking incident has come to light within the Bihar Police. A female Sub-Inspector (SI) posted at the Naokothi police station in Begusarai district is accused of soliciting a bribe in exchange for removing charges from a case. A video of the female SI has gone viral on social media, spanning 10 minutes, which purportedly shows her demanding money to drop certain sections of the law against an individual. Following the emergence of the video, SP Manish Verma has taken action.
The female SI has been suspended with immediate effect. The suspended SI’s name is Leelavati. In the video, she is seen discussing money with someone regarding the removal of charges, with mentions of sums like 5,000 and 20,000 rupees being clearly audible.
Following the investigation, which confirmed the allegations, Leelavati was suspended. Furthermore, departmental action has been initiated against her for disciplinary misconduct.
Begusarai Police issued a press release stating that the video of the female SI went viral on social media and was subsequently investigated. The police took immediate action after the investigation. The incident has sparked intense discussions regarding the working methods of the police in the area. It is worth noting that a similar incident had previously occurred at the Naokothi police station.
Prior to this, a video of another police officer from Naokothi police station had gone viral, leading to that officer’s suspension. Now, with the suspension of the female SI, the police station has once again become a subject of public scrutiny.
