Citroen has launched the new C3X SUV in India, designed to rival cars like the Tata Punch, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite. The starting price is set at ₹7.91 lakh ex-showroom, reflecting the company’s strategy to boost sales. While based on the standard Citroen C3, the C3X offers enhanced features and amenities. Notably, the C3 was marketed as a ‘hatch with a twist,’ whereas the C3X is explicitly positioned as an SUV.
The C3X is priced from ₹7.91 lakh ex-showroom for the naturally aspirated manual variant, going up to ₹9.89 lakh ex-showroom for the turbo automatic. Customers can opt for the HALO 360-degree camera system as a paid add-on in select variants. Bookings are open, with deliveries expected to begin in early September 2025. This vehicle will also compete with the Hyundai Exter and Maruti Fronx in the Indian market.
The C3X offers two petrol engine options: a 1.2-liter PureTech 82 naturally aspirated engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and a 1.2-liter PureTech 110 turbocharged engine with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The turbo variant is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 10 seconds and offers a mileage of up to 19.3 km/liter.
The new SUV features the Citroen Advanced Comfort Suspension, specifically tuned for Indian roads, promising a smooth ride. Safety features include 6 airbags, ESP, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, TPMS, high-speed alert, and a parametric alarm.
The C3X incorporates 15 new features compared to the standard C3. These include passive entry with proxy sensors and a push start system, segment-first hands-free access, cruise control with a speed limiter, HALO 360-degree camera system, auto-dimming IRVM, LED projector headlamps, LED projector fog lamps, LED DRLs, and LED interior lighting. Additionally, the cabin boasts a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a tropicalized automatic AC designed for Indian summers. Further enhancing practicality, the car includes a rear USB Type-C charging port and a 315-liter boot space, making it suitable for both daily commutes and weekend getaways.
