Following a post by Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on X, which highlighted 17 criminal incidents in Bihar, the state police refuted the allegations. A spokesperson from the police headquarters provided detailed information on several recent cases. The police stated that they have taken all incidents, both minor and major, seriously, and have solved them, leading to arrests and other stringent actions. Regarding Yadav’s post, the police clarified that the two incidents he mentioned – the killing of a farmer in Rohtas and the murder of an 18-year-old in Bettiah – had no connection to the claims made. The police spokesperson also noted the ongoing efforts to punish those responsible for various crimes. From January to June of this year, 64,989 accused were punished in 46,616 cases by various courts in the state. This includes sentences ranging from the death penalty to life imprisonment and sentences exceeding 10 years. The police emphasized that the context of some incidents cited by the Leader of the Opposition differed from the actual events. The police provided specifics on multiple cases. Regarding the murder of a businessman in Motihari for ransom, the case is linked to the Chakia police station. According to a complaint filed by Asharfi Sah in the Kalyanpur police station on August 10, his son, Neeraj, was taken away by Shubham Kumar and others and threatened for a ransom of two lakh rupees. On August 11, Neeraj’s body was recovered in Chawar, Paru police station area, Muzaffarpur district. All six named accused have been arrested. The case of the kidnapping and murder of a father and son in Patna is connected to the Khagaul police station. A person named Vishal was assaulted and kidnapped on August 6. His body was recovered on August 8, and five accused were arrested. One accused surrendered in court. The murder of Gudiya Kumari by gunshot on August 11 in Parsa, Telia Tola, under the Shivaji Nagar police station in Samastipur is under investigation by FSL and DIU teams. The investigation is being conducted by the Rosada SDPO. Regarding the murder of a youth in Muzaffarpur, the police stated that a body was recovered on August 11 in the Paru police station area. The body showed signs of a throat slit. The identity of the youth is yet to be established. The FSL team is investigating. The murder of a woman and a child in Patdaura Tola, Sitamarhi, was reported on August 12. The bodies are being identified, and the FSL team is investigating, with police investigations underway. The murder of a woman in Gulzarbagh village, Nalanda, on August 11, where Sanjay Manjhi killed his 60-year-old wife, Girani Devi, with a hoe, is also under investigation. The incident of two people being shot and injured near Kathpul, under the Patna’s Mehandiganj police station, on August 10, is being investigated with raids underway to arrest the accused. In Chandpur village, Raushanganj police station, Gaya, a widowed woman was murdered on August 8, and a team has been formed to investigate and identify the perpetrators. The murder of the son of a Sarpanch in Bhaptiyahi, Supaul, on August 10, has led to the arrest of four accused. Further investigations are ongoing. The murder of Nikhil Kumar in Sarmera, Nalanda, on August 3, has resulted in the arrest and imprisonment of six people. The investigation is ongoing in the murder case in Adhaura police station, Kaimur, on August 7. The identity of the criminals involved in the shooting of a youth in Repura Bazar, Jiradei area, Siwan, is being ascertained. In Lawabar village, Kothi police station, Gaya, a person was beaten to death on August 11, with six FIR accused arrested and further action underway. Ten FIR accused have been arrested in connection with the murder of a youth in Atari police station, Gaya, on August 9. Rahul Kumar, a 25-year-old youth, was shot dead on August 5 in Benta police station, Darbhanga, due to a love affair. The girl’s father was arrested for the murder.
