Bihar is facing scrutiny regarding its Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Electoral Roll in anticipation of the 2025 Assembly elections. Concerns have been raised about alleged discrepancies in the voter list, with reports of deceased individuals included and eligible voters omitted. Tejashwi Yadav, the CM candidate for Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and son of party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, claimed his name was missing from the Election Commission’s draft voter list, despite filling out the necessary enumeration form. This has led to a political dispute, with Janata Dal (United) accusing Yadav of misleading the public. Yadav, at a press conference, stated he completed the required form, yet his name and details, even with his EPIC number, were not found in the system. The Patna district administration responded by clarifying that Yadav’s name is on the list, though his polling station and serial number had changed. Yadav questioned the alterations and suggested a conspiracy to remove voters from the list. JDU spokesperson Neeraj Kumar labeled Yadav a ‘political fraud’. The Election Commission refuted Yadav’s claims, stating his name is present in the draft electoral roll. The situation has heightened the already tense political atmosphere in Bihar, especially with the upcoming elections.
