Following the Supreme Court’s opinion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar, RJD leader and Leader of the Opposition in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, stated that all opposition parties had fought against SIR in the assembly, parliament, and on the streets. He declared the Supreme Court’s decision, particularly the interim order, as a victory, emphasizing that the court had validated their demands regarding SIR. Yadav hailed it as a triumph of justice. He criticized the Election Commission for attempting to conceal information, highlighting the court’s directive to ensure transparency. The court mandated that Aadhaar cards be made mandatory and that the list of 65 lakh deleted names be displayed booth-wise. Furthermore, the Supreme Court instructed the commission to provide reasons for the deletions, specifying whether the individuals were deceased or untraceable. Yadav also mentioned the court’s directive to the commission to inform those whose names had been removed through advertisements. He further stated that democracy was under threat and that he and his party would not let it be destroyed. He mentioned that the people of his constituency, Raghopur, whose names were removed, were sent to Delhi, and went to the Supreme Court. He stated this was a victory for the people of Bihar and for democracy and the constitution.
He recalled that on June 27th, he held a press conference to inform the public about the SIR, the rushed deadlines set by the Election Commission, and the commission’s hidden agendas. He also mentioned the Bihar bandh on July 9th, which Rahul Gandhi also attended. He expressed his gratitude to the opposition, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Kharge, Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray, Dipankar Bhattacharya, and Akhilesh Yadav, and to Yogendra Yadav and his team of advocates. He emphasized that their fight to protect democracy, the constitution, and votes would continue, closely monitoring every aspect of the situation. He mentioned that they are now working on digital platforms, using laptops, data, and AI. He criticized the Election Commission for not responding to accusations and for the lack of transparency. He predicted the NDA’s defeat in the upcoming elections. He also dismissed claims of infiltration through SIR, mentioning that whether or not any outsiders had come, voters in Bihar are now included.
