Scientists have identified a planet resembling Earth in our stellar neighborhood, raising the possibility of life. Utilizing the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), researchers have detected a large exoplanet. This planet orbits Alpha Centauri A, the closest sun-like star to our own. Located within the Alpha Centauri triple-star system, the planet is tentatively named Alpha Centauri Ab. Scientists suggest the potential presence of water on its surface.
This discovery, achieved through direct imaging, represents a significant milestone in exoplanet science. If confirmed, it would mark the first identification of a potentially habitable planet around our nearest sun-like neighbor.
