Following a meeting with former US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin alluded to a sense of regional closeness between the two nations. Putin remarked on the manner in which he greeted Trump, as if they were neighbors. Upon disembarking from the plane, Putin shook hands with Trump, saying, ‘Good afternoon, my dear neighbor, it’s very good to see you healthy and alive.’
Putin’s remarks were made in reference to a life-threatening attack on Trump. Putin stated that their conversation occurred in a constructive and respectful environment that proved very beneficial. He also expressed gratitude to his American counterpart for the proposal to visit Alaska. Putin highlighted that despite their countries being distinct and different, they often shared positive sentiments when they met.
