On the special occasion of Janmashtami, Param Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj, the spiritual guru of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha of Swaminarayan Akshardham in New Delhi, offered a special prayer and blessings to the people. Swami Maharaj stated that incarnations of God have appeared from time to time on the land of India to establish dharma.
He mentioned that the life, actions, and teachings of Lord Krishna, who incarnated accordingly, continue to be a source of inspiration for everyone today. Swami Maharaj said that the celebration of this Janmashtami will be considered meaningful only when we incorporate the teachings given in the Bhagavad Gita into our lives.
Mahant Swami Maharaj said that Lord Krishna was devoted to his devotees. He protected dharma by driving Arjuna’s chariot, extended the cloth to save Draupadi’s modesty, ate Vidur’s vegetables, and accepted the rice grains of his friend Sudama. Swami Maharaj said that while residing in Gokul, Krishna gave happiness to the cowherd boys and girls. He mentioned that countless such characters of Krishna are still read in the Bhagavad Gita.
Swami Maharaj says that the greatest gift of Lord Krishna to this earth is the Bhagavad Gita. He said that the knowledge provided by him in this scripture is useful for all. Maharaj said that if we live our lives according to the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, we always experience the presence of God.
In the end, Swami Maharaj said that celebrating the festival of Janmashtami will be meaningful only when we understand the knowledge of the Bhagavad Gita and use it in our lives.
