A 21-year-old pregnant woman, recently arrested as part of a crackdown on individuals residing in the country illegally, has escaped from Mumbai’s J.J. Hospital. The woman, who was admitted to the hospital due to health concerns, fled on August 14th. Authorities are currently searching for her. The woman, identified as a Bangladeshi national, was under police guard while receiving treatment at the hospital. She managed to escape by pushing past a constable. This incident has raised concerns about security protocols in hospitals and jails. It has also been revealed that the woman, identified as Rubina Irshad Sheikh, was using a forged birth certificate to live in India. She was arrested on August 5th in Navi Mumbai for illegal residency and was subsequently held at Byculla Women’s Jail. She was brought to the hospital for skin treatment before escaping. A case has been registered against her, and the police are actively trying to locate her. This incident is connected to a broader nationwide operation targeting illegal immigrants, which has drawn criticism from the opposition.
