With the festive season approaching, automotive manufacturers are preparing to capitalize on the upcoming months with new product lineups. Maruti Suzuki and Renault India are set to launch a new mid-size SUV and an updated Kiger on September 3 and August 24, 2025, respectively. These models cater to different SUV categories and hold significance in their respective segments. The upcoming Maruti SUV (Maruti Escudo) will feature several firsts for any Maruti car in India, while the updated Kiger will be among the most affordable subcompact SUVs available in the country. Let’s delve into what these cars will offer. The Renault Kiger subcompact SUV is slated for a mid-life update. Official teasers suggest the updated model will include C-shaped taillamps, a sporty rear bumper, and a shark fin antenna. Reports indicate that the 2025 Renault Kiger will undergo significant changes, including a redesigned front fascia with Renault’s new logo and a new grille design. Some minor interior upgrades are also expected. The Renault Kiger facelift will retain the existing 1.0-liter naturally aspirated and 1.0-liter turbo petrol engines, generating 72PS and 100PS of power, respectively. It will offer both manual and automatic gearboxes. A CNG kit will also be available as a retrofit. Maruti Suzuki has not officially disclosed the name and details of the upcoming model set to hit showrooms on September 3, 2025. However, the new Maruti SUV is known as the Maruti Escudo. This mid-size SUV will feature Dolby Atmos audio technology and Level-2 ADAS. It will be equipped with a 4WD (Four-Wheel Drive) system in its segment. The powertrain, platform, features, and design elements will be based on the Grand Vitara. This means it will come in three engine options – 1.5-liter petrol, 1.5-liter strong hybrid, and a CNG variant. Some minor cosmetic changes are anticipated. Reports suggest the Escudo will be slightly longer than the Grand Vitara and have more boot space.
