Trump indicated that the responsibility now rests with the Ukrainian President. He made these remarks following a meeting with Putin in Alaska. Trump urged Zelensky to advance the Alaska discussions and secure an agreement to end the ongoing three-year conflict. He emphasized the need for Zelensky to reach a settlement, recognizing Russia’s significant power. Trump also mentioned his willingness to participate in the meeting if both leaders desired his presence. Following his meeting with Putin in Alaska, Trump asserted that the onus is on President Zelensky, and he would also encourage European nations to contribute. He stated that if they wished, he would be present at the next meeting. Trump advised Zelensky to negotiate a settlement to end the war, anticipating a meeting involving Zelensky, Putin, and himself. Putin had suggested the next meeting would take place in Moscow.
