Ranbir Kapoor, a prominent actor in Hindi cinema, is the focus of major film producers’ investments. He is currently engaged in projects with top directors, including ‘Ramayana,’ ‘Love and War,’ and ‘Dhoom 4.’ Other directors are also keen to cast him in their films. Amidst this, his name has surfaced for a sequel to a blockbuster film, but his path won’t be easy. A rival, an actor who has grossed 1800 crores, poses a significant challenge. This article explores which film is in question and which actor is providing the competition.
Subhash B recently resolved a two-year legal dispute with Shemaroo Entertainment. The issue arose when Shemaroo Entertainment expressed concerns regarding copyright infringement while proposing a sequel to ‘Disco Dancer.’ However, on August 12, the Bombay High Court ruled in Subhash’s favor. Consequently, work on the sequel to the film starring Mithun Chakraborty will proceed.
Subhash, speaking to Mid Day, elaborated on the film’s sequel. He stated that ‘Disco Dancer’ is his creation and that he had a business agreement with Shemaroo for certain video and satellite rights. Nonetheless, he always retained the creative rights to the film. Currently, the focus is on progressing the story. Subhash revealed that he is considering either Ranbir Kapoor or Allu Arjun for the lead role, as both are excellent actors and dancers.
He will also engage K.V. Vijayendra Prasad to write the story and screenplay, who was involved in the writing when the legal matter was unfolding. Subhash mentioned he might direct the film, but a final decision will be made after the lead actor is chosen. Co-producer Nitin Gupta expressed a desire to present a fresh narrative to the audience while maintaining the essence of the original story.
Allu Arjun presents a substantial challenge because he has a far greater fan following than Ranbir Kapoor. He gained popularity in North India after ‘Pushpa.’ If he is offered the film and accepts it, Ranbir could miss out on a significant project. ‘Pushpa 2’ earned over 1800 crores, making him a major threat.
