India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, is known for his inspiring approach and ability to motivate players. He employed a similar strategy with Varun Chakravarthy. Chakravarthy revealed the encouraging words Gambhir shared with him. In an interview before the Asia Cup, Chakravarthy described Gambhir as a warrior and mentioned that Gambhir assured him of his unwavering belief and inclusion in his plans.
Chakravarthy, in conversation with Revsportz, stated, ‘Gautam Gambhir greatly assisted me in making a comeback; he consistently boosted my morale. While we don’t have extensive conversations, he has always instilled confidence in me. He said that no matter who overlooks you, I will always include you in my plans. This is how he motivated me. His mindset is like a fighter’s. His approach benefited KKR and also helped in the Champions Trophy.’
Chakravarthy highlighted that the upcoming Asia Cup would give white-ball cricketers ample rest, which would prove advantageous. He added, ‘The Asia Cup is approaching. White-ball players have had good rest after the IPL. I participated in the TNPL but still got a month’s rest. I worked well on my strength and conditioning. I’ve focused on both my bowling and batting, and I’m feeling great because I’ve spent time with my child, wife, and parents.’ Varun Chakravarthy is set to showcase his skills in the Asia Cup, which begins on September 9th in the UAE. India’s first match will be against the UAE on September 10th, followed by a match against Pakistan on September 14th.
