RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, speaking from Gaya, Bihar, during the third day of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s voter rights यात्रा (Yatra), claimed that the voter rights यात्रा is receiving massive support from the public. He asserted that people are understanding how the BJP allegedly took control of the Election Commission and is now attempting to steal votes. Yadav declared that the public is now fully aware and that democracy will not be allowed to be destroyed in Bihar, the land of democracy, and that this यात्रा will prove historic. Reacting to the Chief Election Commissioner’s press conference, Yadav stated that the Commissioner has not provided clear answers based on facts. He questioned why people who are alive have been declared dead, citing thousands of such examples. He accused the Commissioner of merely reading what was provided by the PMO, repeating what he was taught. Yadav added that if the Commissioner has taken BJP membership, he should clarify it openly, without any hesitation.
The voter rights यात्रा commenced its third day from the Hanuman Temple in Punama Wazirganj, Nawada district, at 8 am. It proceeded with a foot march, culminating in Rahul Gandhi addressing a public meeting at the Bhagat Singh Chowk in Nawada at 11 am. The यात्रा paused for lunch at the ITI College Ground in Nawada. Later in the day, Rahul Gandhi was scheduled to arrive at Warisaliganj at 4 pm, from where the यात्रा would resume. At 6 pm, he was to reach Sheikhpura and pay floral tributes to the statue of Bihar’s first Chief Minister, Shri Krishna Singh, before the यात्रा moved towards Barbigha, where Rahul Gandhi was expected to address a public meeting by 7 pm.
