This collaboration would reunite Dutt and Manjrekar after nearly two decades, with their last project together being ‘Vaastav’ in 1999, a film that became a cult classic. The original ‘Juna Furniture’ received critical acclaim for its storyline, performances, and sensitive portrayal of a senior citizen and his IAS officer son. Manjrekar believes the story’s universal themes will resonate with a wider audience in a Hindi adaptation, which is why he has approached Dutt to play the lead role.
