Amidst global tensions, North Korea has established a secret base. According to an American think tank, Kim Jong Un’s government has stationed nine nuclear missiles and their launchers at this base, intended for attacks on enemy nations in emergencies. The base, named Sinpung-dang, is situated 27 kilometers from the Chinese border.
North Korea has not yet commented on the base. According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, North Korea currently possesses 50 nuclear weapons, capable of causing widespread destruction.
Sinpung-dang Base’s Location: The base is located near an island in North Pyongan. The distance to China is 27 km, while the distance to the United States is 7,000 km. Japan and South Korea, allies of the United States, are less than 100 km away. Sinpung-dang is often referred to as China’s secret base.
The American think tank’s report indicates the base is extensive, with the potential to house at least 15 missiles. North Korea has yet to release any information about the base, which includes an underground system.
Construction began in 2004, with operations commencing in 2014. North Korean soldiers have been active there since. The report estimates the base covers an area of 22 square kilometers.
Why This Location?: Situated in the mountains, the base is close to China. Experts suggest that North Korea’s leader has been extremely cautious in establishing the base, as North Korea believes the United States will avoid attacking the base during a war.
This is because an attack on the base could directly impact China. In such a scenario, China might enter the conflict against the United States, escalating into a major war. North Korea has therefore established a secret base in Sinpung-dang.
Initially, the secret base was camouflaged with tree branches, but it has now been exposed.
North Korea’s Enemies: North Korea’s primary enemy is South Korea. Additionally, Japan and the United States are also adversaries. In the event of war, North Korea might also face the Philippines, as the United States, South Korea, the Philippines, and Japan have a strong alliance in the Asian islands.
North Korea has developed weapons capable of attacking the United States. Kim Jong Un’s sister has stated that North Korea will never dismantle its nuclear weapons.
