The political atmosphere in Bihar is charged. The Mahagathbandhan is conducting a Voter Rights Yatra. The Janata Dal United (JDU) has strongly criticized Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav regarding this yatra, claiming the two leaders are misleading the public and should apologize. Meanwhile, the Congress is becoming active regarding ticket distribution, with its screening committee set to tour Bihar and assess party members’ readiness. On the other hand, the RJD alleges that Nitish Kumar is appeasing the BJP and RSS.
At a press conference held Thursday at the party office in Patna, JDU national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad and media panelist Mahesh Das jointly addressed the media. They strongly criticized the Voter Rights Yatra of Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, stating that these leaders, who are misleading the public, should apologize to the people.
Focusing on Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, they highlighted that the two frequently resort to lies to mislead the public. They pointed to Rahul Gandhi’s reference to CSDS data to criticize the Election Commission and claim that voters were ‘missing’, which was used as a basis for the yatra. However, the truth came out when CSDS analyst Sanjay Kumar admitted to providing incorrect information and apologized after the police filed an FIR against him. The question now is whether Rahul Gandhi will follow his tradition of apologizing and apologize to the people and the Election Commission.
They stated this is not the first time Rahul Gandhi has been caught in a lie, referencing apologies made to the Supreme Court regarding the Rafale issue, for comments on the army, and after being found guilty of defamation for his remarks about ‘all thieves’ sharing the surname Modi. Rahul repeatedly lies and is repeatedly forced to apologize.
In preparation for the Bihar assembly elections, the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee has organized an important meeting to select prospective candidates. Members of the Screening Committee, MP Praniti Shinde, and Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee in-charge secretary Devendra Yadav will be on a three-day tour of Bihar, from August 23 to August 25, 2025. During the tour, they will discuss with potential candidates from various districts.
According to information provided by the Pradesh Congress, the first meeting will be held on Saturday (August 23) at 11 am at the Circuit House in Sasaram. Potential candidates from Buxar, Bhojpur, Kaimur, Rohtas, and Aurangabad districts will participate. The second meeting will be held on August 24 at 9 am at Hotel Vishnu Bihar in Gaya. Candidates from Gaya, Nawada, Nalanda, Jamui, and Sheikhpura districts will be discussed. The third meeting will be held on August 24 at Sadaqat Ashram in Patna. The Pradesh Congress has instructed the district presidents and executive presidents of the concerned districts.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the main opposition party in Bihar, has again attacked CM Nitish Kumar, accusing him of appeasing the BJP and RSS. At a press conference held at the RJD state office, youth RJD national general secretary MLA Kari Mo Shohaib, RJD state spokesperson Ejaz Ahmed, and former MLA Mujahid Alam stated that a fake centenary celebration was held by the Madrasa Board. Although the Madrasa Board completed 100 years in 2022, crores of rupees were spent by the Madrasa Board to promote Nitish Kumar and BJP ministers. They also mentioned that Urdu newspapers were forced to publish advertisements for free, with threatening language. Kari Sohaib said that on the pretext of the centenary celebration, holidays were declared in all government madrasas in Bihar, and teachers were forced to participate in a JDU rally and benefit Nitish Kumar politically. The JDU-backed chairman of the Madrasa Board used Muslim institutions for their political interests.
Indian Communist Party-ML has targeted the Election Commission. The party’s state secretary Kunal said that in a bulletin issued on August 21, the Election Commission stated that no objections were raised by any political party’s BLA regarding the 65 lakh voters excluded from the electoral roll under the SIR process. This statement is factually incorrect.
First, the Election Commission did not clearly and transparently define the process for registering objections. Because of this, our party or our BLAs could not register objections in the prescribed format. Although objections have been continuously raised at different levels, the commission has been ignoring them by stating that they are not in the prescribed format. However, on August 20, our party’s authorized BLA Vishwakarma Paswan (194 – Ara Assembly, Booth No. – 100) submitted Form-6 along with an affidavit for Mintu Paswan (Epic number – RGX0701235) and Munna Paswan (Epic number – RGX2861375) to the local BLO, a copy of the receipt of which is available with us. Despite this, our party’s designated column in the bulletin issued on August 21 shows 0.
Bihar JDU state president Umesh Singh Kushwaha issued a statement strongly criticizing the opposition’s Voter Rights Yatra. He said that the political princes of the Congress and RJD are only trying to save their respective parties’ existence under the guise of this pointless yatra, because the opposition has no real issues against the government, so now they have resorted to political drama in the name of SIR.
The state president said that the opposition, which pretends to seek voting rights, has always been afflicted with the mindset of looting votes and snatching rights. Bihar can never forget that during the rule of Lalu-Rabri, the state was infamous throughout the country for booth capturing, when criminals patronized by the government looted booths and trampled the right to vote of ordinary citizens. Similarly, the Congress trampled the fundamental rights of the common people by imposing Emergency on the country. It is clear and obvious that the RJD and Congress have strangled democracy during their respective tenures. Kushwaha said that the Rahul-Tejashwi duo is engaged in misleading the public with lies and propaganda. The people of Bihar are wise and this political move of the opposition has been completely exposed.

He also said that the Prime Minister will give gifts of various projects worth Rs 1675 crore for the overall development of Gaya. During this time, the proposed industrial corridor in Gaya will be inaugurated, opening a new door to the development of Bihar. The meeting of PM Modi in Gaya will be historic. All the constituent parties of the NDA have made full preparations to make it successful. Thousands of party workers will also be present to welcome PM Modi.
