A 23-year-old player showcased extraordinary batting prowess in a T20 league in Karnataka, igniting a fiery display that left the fielding team struggling. In the Maharaja T20 Trophy, young opener Lochan Gowda unleashed a barrage of sixes in a single over, accumulating 32 runs with his explosive batting.
The 24th match of the Maharaja Trophy took place on Friday, August 22, in Mysore, featuring Shivamogga Lions and Mangalore Dragons. The Dragons batted first and posted a formidable score of 200 runs in their 20 overs. Lochan, the 23-year-old opener, played a pivotal role in reaching this score, emerging as the top scorer for the team. The right-handed batsman smashed a quickfire 63 runs off just 32 balls.
The most aggressive and captivating moment of Lochan’s innings came in the 11th over when he tore apart the bowling of D. Ashok of the Lions. Lochan started the over with a six and followed it up with four more consecutive sixes, sending the ball soaring over the boundary. While he couldn’t manage a sixth consecutive six, as he scored only 2 runs on the fifth ball, he concluded the over with another six. In this single over, Lochan amassed 32 runs with five sixes. Notably, Lochan scored a total of 63 runs in his innings, with more than half of those runs (32) coming from this single over. He hit 5 sixes and 2 fours in his innings, all five sixes were from this over.
Following Lochan’s explosive performance, another display of aggressive batting unfolded, this time from Shivamogga Lions’ opener. Tushar Singh delivered a blistering innings, scoring 89 runs off just 48 balls in pursuit of a large target. His innings included 7 sixes and 6 fours. Alongside him, Hardik Raj contributed 32 runs off 14 balls, bringing the team close to victory. However, with 6 runs needed off the last ball, the team couldn’t score, and the Lions lost the match by 5 runs.
