Former US President Donald Trump has announced his choice for the new US Ambassador to India. Trump has appointed Sergio Gor, a trusted associate, to the position. Gor will also serve as the Special Envoy for South and Central Asia. The announcement was made on Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social. Gor currently holds the position of Director of the Presidential Personnel Office at the White House. He will officially become the new permanent US Ambassador to India after confirmation by the US Senate. This appointment comes seven months after Eric Garcetti’s departure. Sergio Gor will be the 26th US Ambassador to India. In his Truth Social post, Trump expressed his pleasure in promoting Sergio Gor to the role.
Trump described Gor as a close associate, friend, and confidant in whom he has complete faith. He emphasized the importance of having someone who can fully implement his agenda and advance the ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA) goals, especially in the world’s most populous region.
Sergio Gor has a long history of political and personal trust with Trump. He played a crucial role in Trump’s presidential campaign. Additionally, he has contributed to the publication of Trump’s bestselling books and led a major Super PAC (Political Action Committee) in support of Trump.
As Director of the Presidential Personnel Office at the White House, Gor played a pivotal role in staffing the Donald Trump administration. Trump praised Gor and his team for appointing approximately 4,000 ‘America First Patriots’ to various departments of the federal government in record time, filling over 95% of positions in government departments and agencies.
