A drawing teacher in Belgharia, North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal, was brutally attacked by a group of youths on Saturday morning. The assault occurred after the teacher objected to the group’s public consumption of alcohol. The incident took place in the Nandanagar area, part of Kamarhati Municipality’s Ward No. 31, and has caused tension in the local community. The victim, Nirupam Pal, was returning home from a Kali Puja invitation when he witnessed four young men and a woman drinking alcohol on the roadside. Upon requesting them to stop, he was allegedly assaulted, sustaining injuries to his chest, face, and eyes. Pal has urged the police to take strong action against the perpetrators, fearing further targeting.
