Tata Motors is preparing to compete with Maruti Suzuki in the Indian market by launching a series of new models, facelifts, and special editions. The company plans to introduce seven new vehicles, including options with petrol, diesel, electric, and hybrid powertrains. These vehicles are expected to be priced between ₹10 lakh and ₹20 lakh.
In the highly competitive sub-4 meter SUV segment, Tata will launch three new models: the Tata Punch facelift, the all-new Tata Scarlet, and the next-generation Tata Nexon. These models aim to rival Maruti Suzuki’s Fronx and Brezza, which are among the top 5 selling models in the segment.
**Tata Punch Facelift**
The 2025 Tata Punch facelift will have a design similar to the Punch EV, featuring slim headlamps, new bumpers, a new LED DRL pattern, and new alloy wheels. Inside, it is expected to have a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a two-spoke steering wheel like the Altroz. Touch control panels may also be included. The engine options are expected to remain the same, with a 1.2L petrol engine producing 86bhp and a CNG engine option producing 73.4bhp.
**Tata Scarlet**
The new Tata compact SUV, codenamed Scarlet, will have a boxy look with a design inspired by the Sierra. It will be built on a monocoque platform and could be available with petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains. While the official engine details have not been released, it is expected to feature the Nexon’s 120bhp 1.2L turbo petrol, the Curvv’s 125bhp 1.2L TGDi petrol, or a new 1.5L petrol engine. An electric version is also possible.
**Next-Generation Tata Nexon**
Tata will also launch the next-generation model of the popular Tata Nexon. This is expected to launch in 2027. It will be built on a modified version of the existing X1 architecture. The new model is expected to have major design changes and new features. The 2027 Nexon will likely continue with petrol and CNG engines, while the diesel engine may be discontinued due to BS7 emission norms.
