A shooting occurred at a Catholic school in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where the assailant opened fire during a prayer service. Two children were killed in the gunfire, and 17 others were injured. President Donald Trump has ordered that all U.S. flags at the White House and all public buildings across the country be flown at half-staff until sunset on Sunday, August 31st, to honor the victims of the shooting. The White House announced that the order includes flags at half-staff on all public buildings and grounds, military posts, naval stations, and all naval vessels of the federal government in the District of Columbia, as well as in the United States and its territories and possessions until sunset on August 31, 2025. Trump also directed that flags at all U.S. embassies and consulates, along with all other facilities abroad, including military installations, naval ships, and stations, be flown at half-staff until August 31st. The shooter, approximately 20 years old, possessed a rifle, shotgun, and pistol, and later died from self-inflicted injuries. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey also expressed his sorrow over the shooting.
