Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra’s film, ‘Param Sundari,’ is set to release in theaters this Friday. Pre-release buzz for the film is notably subdued, with the advance bookings also appearing weak. However, a potential advantage for the film is its solo release, without competition from any major films. The question remains: will this film be a success? ‘Param Sundari’ is a significant film for Janhvi Kapoor’s career, as she has been waiting for a major hit for seven years. Will this film end her wait?
The trailer of ‘Param Sundari’ received a decent response, but there isn’t much excitement among the audience after the advance booking started. The film is a romantic comedy that tells the story of a budding romance between two characters from South and North India. The film is releasing during Ganesh Chaturthi. The makers certainly hope for a good opening.
Janhvi Kapoor, daughter of Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, made her Bollywood debut in 2018 with the film ‘Dhadak.’ It was a Hindi remake of the Marathi film ‘Sairat.’ The film received mixed reviews and managed to achieve a semi-hit status. Since then, Janhvi Kapoor hasn’t replicated the success of ‘Dhadak.’ Although her acting has been praised in some films, none of her theatrical releases have achieved the hit status.
Janhvi Kapoor’s Films (Theatrical Release):
* Dhadak – Semi-hit
* Roohi – Flop
* Mili – Flop
* Mr. & Mrs. Mahi – Below average
* Ulajh – Flop
* Devra: Part 1 – Average
‘Dhadak’ collected ₹74.19 crore at the box office. Following this, ‘Roohi’ earned ₹23.25 crore, ‘Mili’ ₹2.24 crore, ‘Mr. & Mrs. Mahi’ ₹36.28 crore, ‘Ulajh’ ₹8.30 crore, and ‘Devra Part 1’ ₹292.03 crore in the domestic market. ‘Devra Part 1’ could only make ₹62 crore in Hindi. Although it was a big-budget film, it didn’t perform exceptionally well.
‘Param Sundari’ Expectations
Not only Janhvi Kapoor, but also the film’s hero, Sidharth Malhotra, will have high hopes for this film. Sidharth hasn’t had a hit since 2015. ‘Param Sundari’ is directed by Tushar Jalota and produced under the banner of Maddock Films. The film also stars Sanjay Kapoor, Renji Panicker, Siddharth Shankar, Manjot Singh, and Inayak Verma.
