TVS is expanding its electric scooter lineup with a new EV model, poised to slot below the iQube in its offerings. The scooter, likely to be named the Orbiter, is scheduled for its official debut today, August 28th, as confirmed by TVS’s announcements. Unlike the iQube, this new model is developed from the ground up, designed with a fresh approach and targeted at a more accessible customer segment.
TVS has kept the specifications and features of the scooter under wraps until now. However, reports suggest that TVS is working on a straightforward, no-frills electric scooter, powered by a hub-mounted motor to keep costs competitive.
The Orbiter is anticipated to serve as the entry-level model in TVS’s EV portfolio. While Orbiter is the leading name, the company has also secured trademarks for alternative names such as EV One and O.
Given that the iQube already comes in multiple variants, the Orbiter is also expected to be offered in different versions. The iQube currently ranges in price from ₹1 lakh for the base 2.2 kWh model to nearly ₹2 lakh for the top-spec 5.1 kWh version. Positioned beneath this, the Orbiter is projected to feature a smaller battery, simpler components, and fewer features, making it more affordable.
With electric vehicle adoption gaining momentum, fueled by government incentives, manufacturers like TVS are steadily broadening their portfolios with models at various price points to attract a wider customer base.
