Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, a two-time Olympic medalist, achieved a second-place finish at the Diamond League Final 2025 held in Zurich. Chopra, despite a performance that fell short of his usual standards, demonstrated resilience with a best throw of 85.01m. Germany’s Julian Weber clinched the top spot with an impressive 91.51m effort.
Chopra’s performance saw him begin with a promising 84.35m, followed by an 82m throw. He faced challenges in the middle rounds, committing three consecutive fouls. His final attempt of 85.01m secured his position as runner-up.
Weber’s outstanding throw of 91.51m set the benchmark for the competition. Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad and Tobago secured third place with a throw of 84.95m.
This event highlights the competitive nature of the sport and serves as a point of reflection for Chopra as he prepares for upcoming major international events, including the World Championships and the Olympics.
