The Nitish Kumar government in Bihar has initiated a special scheme to empower women from all sections of society financially. This marks the first time such a scheme has been introduced to provide self-employment opportunities for women. The scheme, named the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana, was approved during a special meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday.
Chief Secretary (CS) Amrit Lal Meena provided detailed information about the scheme. He informed the media in the auditorium of the Information Bhawan that the government had interacted with 70,000 women’s groups in the state. During these interactions, suggestions were received regarding the formation of marriage boards and empowering women financially. Considering these suggestions, the government has prepared the outline of this scheme.
