India’s ODI captain, Rohit Sharma, is set to undergo a mandatory fitness test today, August 30, at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE). This assessment will help determine his pre-season fitness levels as he focuses solely on the 50-over format. Joining him will be senior teammates Jasprit Bumrah and Test captain Shubman Gill. The availability of Virat Kohli for this assessment remains uncertain. These tests are crucial, occurring just weeks before the Asia Cup 2025, and will set the stage for India’s upcoming cricketing season. The primary benchmark for these tests will be the traditional Yo-Yo test, which has been a staple in Indian cricket’s fitness regime. In addition to the Yo-Yo test, Dexa Scans will be conducted to monitor bone density. The fitness program covers endurance, sprinting speed, explosive power, and bone strength.
