A 23-year-old woman reportedly died by suicide while on a video call with her boyfriend in the Titwala area of Thane district, Maharashtra, on August 28. Police have detained the boyfriend for questioning. The woman’s family alleges that the boyfriend had previously cheated other women. Authorities indicated that the accused had taken the woman’s jewelry under false pretenses and then threatened to release private videos of her when she requested its return. The woman, unable to cope with the situation, ended her life. She was cremated without an autopsy. No formal First Information Report (FIR) has been filed in the case yet. Separately, Delhi Police arrested a woman, Afsana, and two others in an anti-narcotics operation, recovering a total of 1,012 grams of heroin. Afsana was apprehended in the Kalandra colony, Bhalswa dairy, with 300 grams of heroin. Subsequent raids led to the arrest of suppliers Narender and Jyoti aka Manshi, and the recovery of an additional 712 grams of heroin. Charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) have been filed against the accused.
