A man in Rajasthan has been sentenced to death for attacking his wife with acid, leading to her death. The man, identified as Kishan, repeatedly taunted his wife, Laxmi, about her dark complexion and weight. Their relationship was marked by frequent physical altercations stemming from these issues. On the night of the attack, Kishan claimed to have brought medicine for Laxmi and applied it to her body. Laxmi, however, complained about an acidic smell. Ignoring her concerns, Kishan then lit an incense stick near her stomach, which caused her body to ignite. As she burned, he poured the remaining substance on her, ultimately resulting in her death. A case was filed against Kishan at the Vallabhnagar police station in Udaipur, and he was brought before the Additional District Judge Court. The public prosecutor highlighted that the victim was targeted due to her complexion. The judge, while delivering the verdict, emphasized the need to uphold societal fear of courts and handed down the death penalty.
