An investigation is underway in Bihar following the discovery that two Pakistani women were included in the state’s draft voter list in Bhagalpur. The women, alleged to have arrived in India approximately 70 years ago, were identified during a Ministry of Home Affairs verification drive aimed at identifying foreign nationals residing in India beyond their visa validity. Voter ID cards were issued to Imrana Khanam (also known as Imrana Khatoon), wife of Ibtul Hasan, and Firdousia Khanam, wife of Md. Tafjeel Ahmed, in Tank Lane. Their names were even verified during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in preparation for the 2025 assembly elections. Authorities are now taking action, with notices to be sent to the women requiring them to provide supporting documentation.
