The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for the Delhi-NCR region, encompassing Noida, Gurugram, and Ghaziabad, due to continuous monsoon rainfall across North India. The weather forecast for Delhi anticipates heavy rainfall today.
Torrential rains in Gurugram have led to significant waterlogging on roadways, causing a lengthy traffic jam stretching several kilometers. The District Disaster Management Authority has declared an orange alert for the area, recommending the closure of schools, colleges, and offices, and advising remote work.
Noida and Ghaziabad are also experiencing heavy rainfall today. The weather department’s warning has been extended to Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, where a red alert has been issued due to the potential for extremely heavy rainfall and flash floods. An orange alert is currently in effect in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. Schools and offices in the affected areas might remain closed today for safety precautions.
