Maruti Suzuki is preparing to introduce a new SUV in the Indian market, with the launch slated for September 3rd. This new model will compete with established rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun in the compact SUV segment. Positioned internally between the Brezza and Grand Vitara (GV) models, this new vehicle is generating significant anticipation. The SUV is expected to be built on Suzuki’s Global C platform, sharing similar dimensions with the Grand Vitara. It’s anticipated to feature distinctive design elements like new DRL headlamps and headlights, alongside a high-set hoodline. Multiple engine options are likely, including the K15C 1.5-litre mild-hybrid, possibly tuned for around 101hp and 137 NM of torque. A CNG powertrain will also be available, delivering up to 86hp and 121.5Nm of torque. Although not yet confirmed, the SUV could also potentially feature the GV’s 1.5-litre strong hybrid electric powertrain. Transmission choices will likely include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic for the petrol-only version, with an eCVT automatic possible for the hybrid variant. The SUV is expected to include Level 2 ADAS safety features in its top-end trims, along with six airbags as standard, and active safety systems such as ABS, EBD, and ESC. Premium features such as digital displays, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, and ventilated front seats are also anticipated.
