The Indian cricket team is set to depart for the UAE for the Asia Cup 2025, which commences on September 9th. India will begin its campaign on September 10th. Prior to the tournament, a significant development has emerged concerning the Indian team: players selected for the Asia Cup may need to undergo a special fitness test in Dubai. This test has been introduced by the BCCI to assess the players’ fitness.
To evaluate the fitness of the Indian team players, the BCCI has recently implemented the Bronco test. Adrian Le Roux, the strength and conditioning coach of the Indian team, recommended the Bronco test, along with existing methods such as the Yo-Yo test. Many Indian team players recently arrived at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence, and it was believed they were there for the Bronco test in Bengaluru. However, a report revealed that the Bronco test was not conducted at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence for the Indian cricket team stars.
According to reports, the Bronco test for the players selected for the Asia Cup 2025 may take place in Dubai itself. The Indian team will leave for Dubai on September 4th and will conduct its first session at the ICC Academy on September 5th. It is then that the players may have to go through this test. In the Bronco test, a player must start with a 20-meter shuttle run, followed by 40-meter and 60-meter runs. These are combined into a set. A player is expected to complete five such sets (totaling 1200 meters) without stopping.
Asia Cup 2025 will feature a total of 19 matches. India is scheduled to play its first match against the UAE team on September 10th. Following that, India will face Pakistan, with the match scheduled for September 14th. The Indian team will play its final group stage match against Oman on September 19th. Subsequently, the Super 4 matches will be played, where another clash between India and Pakistan could be seen.
