The Indian Premier League (IPL), a major cricket tournament typically held from March to May, will see ticket prices increase. A recent change involves the Goods and Service Tax (GST) on IPL tickets, which has been raised from 28% to 40%. This adjustment specifically impacts IPL matches, while other domestic and international cricket matches maintain an 18% GST. Consequently, fans attending IPL games will face higher costs, especially in the upcoming 2026 season. For example, a ticket priced at INR 500 will now cost INR 700. Tickets priced at INR 1000 and INR 2000 will see costs rise to INR 1400 and INR 2800, respectively. This price hike affects all seating categories, emphasizing the need for fans to plan purchases in advance. Booking tickets through official channels is recommended to secure seats and avoid inflated resale prices.
